Pelagia Expeditions — Deep-Sea Research

Landing page for Pelagia, a civilian deep-sea research expedition company. Design system: deep-ocean expedition — the abyssal navy canvas IS the ocean (Drenched color strategy), bioluminescent teal (#2EE6C8) used sparingly as the only accent, Syne display + Archivo body + Chivo Mono instrument readouts, hard-edged control-panel UI, bathymetric contour dividers. The hero is permanently underwater in both themes (the surface/abyss toggle switches the deck sections). Signature interactions: (1) a live sonar panel — concentric range rings, rotating conic sweep, pinging contact blips and a 4-row telemetry readout (depth, pressure, temperature, oxygen with live jitter); (2) a scroll-linked depth gauge on the desktop edge that maps page scroll to metres of descent from 0 m to −10,928 m; (3) the expedition section is a depth ladder — three missions staged at −200 m (Continental Shelf), −4,000 m (Abyssal Plain) and −10,928 m (Hadal Trench, flagship). Full sections: mission manifest, fleet with monospace spec tables (R/V Alcyone, DSRV Bathynaut, AUV Lamprey), field science blocks (hydrothermal chemosynthesis, bioluminescence, the ocean carbon pump), an expedition log timeline 2024–2026, a scientist pull-quote, fellowship tiers (Citizen €9 / Fellow €49 / Patron €240) as a compare table, crew, FAQ accordion and a newsletter band. i18n complete in 6 languages (EN/ES/FR/DE/IT/PT) with browser detection, dropdown switchers (desktop + mobile) and translated SEO meta. WCAG AA contrast verified across all text/background pairs in both themes; every animation respects prefers-reduced-motion.
